The world is shocked by President Trump’s solution for the ‘Palestinian Problem’. It’s similar to the one his father used to up-market his NY tenement properties – call in the police to throw the tenants out into the street.
We are all amazed by Donald Trump’s proposed solutions to two major international conflicts. Yet we should not be, he made sweeping claims that he could solve them even before he was re-elected. These claims were pooh-poohed as mere bluster, yet now he has declared them openly. I utterly disagree with Trump’s proposed “solutions”, but I believe we are seeing a future that will be enacted.
If we look at the world’s politicians and their acceptance of 15 months of unilateral Israeli/US bombing genocide in Gaza with barely a comment, then realistically there is faint likelihood the world will resist the demands of this US president. I think Trump and his agenda will prevail.
He is carrying out assaults on the organs of America’s Government, claiming Departments of State are corrupt, ordering their closure, or at minimum reorganising with his appointees in power. He is creating a government of acolytes, of cult followers prepared to follow his demands without question. This agenda puts fear into all US Government employees, at both federal and state level: obey or be sacked. The Republican party, and the states under its control, will enact his policy at all levels. Like previous fascist states, “the party” will invade all aspects of society and smother opposition through fear and cultism.
Trump is surrounded by a host of new tech billionaires, oligarch owners of world-spanning companies which control the flow of information everywhere. He offers them uncontrolled expansion for their truth-free content. After just one month as president, we see the world order being writ anew with his broligarchy of techno-feudalists being given unfettered licence to introduce AI. It may not appear oppressive yet, wrapped as it always is in claims of freedom, of listening to the people, of new efficiency, of reduced taxes. The voice we hear most loudly is his voice, as the oligarchs being released by him use a silvery techno-speak to claim the benefits of a gleaming new future.
Trump is always interested in real estate development deals. During his first presidency, his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, (another property developer) was his Middle East envoy who publicly noted the attractiveness of Gaza as a potential holiday destination. Eight years and two US elections later, the Israeli Government has flattened all Palestinian infrastructure in Gaza and is holding its surviving population in temporary tent prisons, policed by the murderous IDF.
The genius of Netanyahu handing the fate of Palestinians to the caring ministrations of Donald Trump is that the world no longer speaks of Israel’s war in Gaza, they already talk of the peace deal, slowly absorbing Trump’s demands that Palestinians vacate their homeland and become refugees in Egypt, Jordan, and elsewhere. The Netanyahu Government is already planning to break the tenuous “Trump” ceasefire and restart annihilation of the remaining Palestinians in both Gaza and the occupied West Bank, to speed up moving the survivors out.
Many more Palestinians are destined to die, because Trump absolutely wants his holiday resort development. He won’t be directly involved, of course, suitable intermediaries are already vying to rebuild it. Ultimately, rich Americans who want a luxury apartment in Gaza, or the West Bank can put down a deposit today in bitcoin (Donald’s of course).
Trump has created an altered mindset in everyone – don’t mess with me. He threatens the takeover of Greenland, of Panama, and Gaza. He launches threats of trade tariffs on countries regardless of their relationship to the US. He cosied up during his first presidency to politicians that the West liked to condescend to: Bolsonaro, Duterte and Kim Jong-un. Trump’s relationship with these men rattled most Western politicians who conform to the standard idea of American orthodoxy. Trump’s sidekicks, Elon Musk and J.D. Vance, have recently begun courting Alice Weidel in concert, the leader of the far-right ‘Alternative for Germany’ party.
Meanwhile, Trump is making overtures to Vladimir Putin and Viktor Orban of Hungary. He has already deciding what “deals” suit his advancement agenda. Trump maintains he and Putin can end the war by allowing Russia to retain Ukrainian territory it has overwhelmed. Happily, Russian-annexed Crimea has extensive Romanov-era seaside cities and resorts, ripe for redevelopment and needing an American investment spree.
Trump also needs a rapprochement with Putin to secure “approval” for his third foreign policy advance planned for this term – regime change in Iran. America’s client, Israel, is raring to attack Iran once the tiresome task of eliminating all Palestinians seems finally certain. America is also desperate to attack Iran, to revenge US expulsion in 1979 when their client, the Shah of Iran, was also deposed, and importantly Trump’s oil industry backers need to be reimbursed by handing Iran’s oilfields back to the US to exploit exclusively. The super-rich sexy young oligarchy is currently in the limelight, but the dark forces of international oil and gas, pharma, and big mining are also behind the president of course, resisting the transition to renewables, and reducing government regulation of their activities.
The democratic West, the UK, the EC, Canada, Australia, despite being America’s staunch allies, are also put on notice. Trump has made it clear that he is not interested in established convention, diplomacy, or set treaties. He questioned continuously the role his America would be playing in maintaining the (US defined) rules-based order. He wants all lesser lands to underpin America’s supremacy, in other words to pay voluminous tribute.
Luckily Australia is well placed with chosen leaders ready for Trump’s approval to play this important bit part. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese utters not a word of objection against the Gazan genocide, nor of Trump’s attacks on the international rule of law. He already supports Trump’s projected “drill baby drill“ agenda. Numerous gas and minerals mining leases routinely receive approval despite Labor promises to implement stronger environmental laws and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Peter Dutton also expresses total commitment to the US-Israel genocide agenda. Dutton’s close adviser, ex-PM Tony Abbot, has a sinecure at Victor Orban’s Danube Institute, which is financed by black money from the world’s premier oligarchs. Australia is well placed for a Trump-like regime change too, headed by a politician with utter contempt for the institution of Parliamentary question time, an attitude he expressed back as a humble Coalition minister.
